Strong people struggle in relationships too. Black professionals, couples, femmes, trans, and non-binary clients often find themselves stuck in cycles of emotional distance, conflict, miscommunication, resentment, or feeling unseen while balancing demanding lives and constant pressure. Therapy helps you slow down the cycle and reconnect.

You've spent so much time being strong for everyone else that your nervous system rarely gets a chance to rest. Anxiety can look like overthinking, overworking, staying in control, difficulty relaxing, irritability, panic, emotional shutdown, or constantly feeling "on." Together, we'll help you move from survival mode to feeling more grounded, calm, and emotionally connected to yourself.

Depression does not always look like staying in bed. Sometimes it looks like functioning, performing, smiling, caregiving, and showing up for everyone else while internally feeling emotionally drained, disconnected, hopeless, or numb. Many Black femmes, trans, and non-binary people carry pressure to remain resilient no matter what they are feeling. You do not have to carry that alone.

You've been carrying a lot for a long time. Constant pressure, overworking, caregiving, identity stress, and always being "on" can leave your mind and body exhausted — even when you appear successful to everyone else. Burnout is not weakness. It's a sign your nervous system needs support.

Many Black professionals, femmes, trans, and non-binary people learned to tie their worth to achievement, productivity, caregiving, or being "the strong one." Over time, that pressure can create self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotional suppression, and a harsh inner critic. Therapy helps you build confidence rooted in who you are — not just what you accomplish.

Perfectionism often develops as protection. For many Black professionals, femmes, trans, and non-binary people, it became a way to avoid criticism, stay safe, gain acceptance, or prove worth in spaces where they already feel pressure to outperform. But constantly feeling like you can never make mistakes becomes exhausting. You deserve peace that is not dependent on performance.

Trauma changes the way you move through the world. Many Black women, femmes, trans, and non-binary people learn to survive by staying guarded, over-functioning, emotionally disconnected, or constantly "on." You may appear successful on the outside while internally carrying exhaustion, fear, grief, or overwhelm. Healing is possible without minimizing what you've survived.

Relationships can become strained when stress, trauma, communication issues, and the pressure of daily life go unaddressed. Couples therapy helps partners slow down reactive cycles and reconnect with greater understanding and emotional safety. Whether you are dating, engaged, married, queer, nontraditional, or navigating major transitions together, therapy can help strengthen your connection. Couples sessions are 60 minutes at a private pay rate of $250 — insurance is not accepted for couples therapy because treatment is focused on the relationship rather than one identified mental health diagnosis.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a compassionate, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the different "parts" of yourself that developed to protect you through stress, trauma, relationships, and life experiences. Rather than judging yourself, IFS helps you build a healthier relationship with the parts carrying anxiety, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, people-pleasing, or self-doubt.
